Cancellation, Return & Refund Policy

Chitral Publications provides customized professional services. Because research, translation, verification, and archival assignments involve professional time and resources, the following policy applies.

1. Services Covered

2. Cancellation Before Work Begins

A client may request cancellation before substantial work has started.

If no substantial work has been performed, Chitral Publications may issue a refund after deducting any applicable payment-processing charges or other non-recoverable costs.

3. Cancellation After Work Begins

Once research, archival searches, translation, verification, transcription, or other professional work has commenced, the amount already spent on professional work and third-party expenses is generally non-refundable.

Any remaining refundable balance, if applicable, will be determined according to the work completed and expenses incurred.

4. Completed Services

Completed research reports, translations, verification reports, genealogical reports, and other customized deliverables are generally non-refundable once delivered.

Because these services are prepared specifically for the individual client, they cannot ordinarily be returned or resold.

5. Research Result Does Not Guarantee a Refund

A client may not request a refund solely because:

• A historical record could not be located;

• A genealogy could not be conclusively established;

• A photograph could not be authenticated;

• An archive did not contain the expected record;

• A document proved different from the client's expectation; or

• Historical evidence produced a conclusion with which the client disagrees.

The purpose of research is to report the evidence that can reasonably be found, including inconclusive or negative findings.

6. Translation Corrections

If a translation contains a demonstrable translation error attributable to Chitral Publications, the client may request reasonable correction within 14 days of delivery.

Corrections resulting from newly supplied information, improved copies of documents, previously unavailable context, or changes to the requested translation are treated as additional work and may incur additional fees.

7. Verification Corrections

If a verification report contains an identifiable factual or transcription error attributable to Chitral Publications, we will reasonably review and correct the error.

A different historical interpretation or conclusion does not, by itself, constitute an error.

8. Third-Party Charges

Fees paid to archives, libraries, government departments, databases, couriers, payment providers, or other third parties may be non-refundable where those charges have already been incurred.

9. Duplicate Payments

If a client accidentally makes a duplicate payment for the same order, the duplicate amount may be refunded after verification, subject to applicable payment-processing charges.

10. Refund Processing

Approved refunds will normally be returned through the original payment method where technically possible.

Processing times may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.

11. How to Request Cancellation or Refund

Requests should include:

• Date of payment
